Killer Income From Your “Home Based Business”: Picking The Right Niche!

The reason most people fail as affiliate marketers and work at home business opportunity seekers can be easily explained by failure to do all, or even one, of the following.

1. Refusal to invest in your business or education.

I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have heard the excuse, I can’t afford to spend any money on advertising, or I don’t want to buy any of those ebooks or training programs….

Listen! If you aren’t ready to invest in your business, you’re not going to have a business.

I’t’s that simple. The question should be where is the best place to invest in my business? Where am I going to get the best value for the money I invest?

We all know their are thousands of programs promising to make you the next internet millionaire. Most of them are a bunch of crap. They only give you bits and pieces of outdated information. In fact if you have been seriously studying the information I have been giving you, you already know more that 80 % of the people struggling to succeed with their work at home business.

The good news is; I’m not going to give you a bunch of B.S. and sugar coat the rest of this course. I’m going to be right up front with you. I will be recommending you invest a little money, further your education, and position yourself, to get a very good return on your investment.

2. Starting with the wrong niche:

Choosing the right niche or niche product is critical. Your niche should be filled with valuable prospects looking to purchase products in your chosen niche. Marketing to an unprofitable niche is pointless. One of the best investment I’ve made is a product that taught me to “work smarter not harder”.

3. Starting with the wrong products: Or picking the wrong offers:

Just as bad as picking the wrong niche is picking the wrong products. Sure, a product may be in your niche…but will it sell? How does the sales letter look? Do you believe in what the product is promoting? If you don’t have a positive reponse to these questions, pick another product. Promoting a product just because it has a nice commission won’t help you succeed. If you’re going to spend time promoting products, pick one that converts well?

4. Promoting an affiliate link:

If you don’t cloak your links, you can’t be sure that you’ll get credit for the people you send to the product page. Invest in a good affiliate link cloaking program or try one of the free options like tiny url.

5. Not testing and tracking your efforts:

Have you ever thrown jello at a wall to see if it stcks? This is how most unsuccessful affiliate conduct their businesses. Testing out different approaches and tracking your results is very important in your long term success. Become familiar with using Google Analytics and other tracking programs. This will help you see how efficiently your offers and efforts are working. If your affiliate links aren’t working, or people aren’t spending enough time on your site to it’s time to tweek your campaign and try a different approach.

6. Not building a list:

Never send anyone to you sales page without capturing their information. But smart affiliates know that they can capture these names and sell to them later down the road. Building a long term profitable affiliate business is only possible if you can build a list of prospects for future products.

7. Promoting just one product:

You can miss out on additional sales if you stick to just one product. When you pick a niche, you should look for one that has the potential for several different products. You can market them to your list and keep their interest by promoting many different products in the same niche.

8. Quiting to soon:

Finding and building the right “work at home business opportunity” takes time. If you try it for a month or two and then decide it isn’t working, you’re quiting too soon. Get more information and education. Knowledge is power, and in this business power equals financial freedom.Serious affiliates know that if they stick with it they’ll begin to see results. Give your business a chance to build and stay commited. Most importantly, stay away from get rich quick scams. This is perhaps the biggest cause of affiliate failure, people quit too early. You can easily set up money making blogs without even having a website. Blogs are an Affiliate Marketers gold mine. You can zero in and have a blog on a particular affiliate niche, or you can promote a number of affiliate products from a single blog. All you need is your own domain name and a web hosting account. You can use the standard “free” WordPress Blog if you choose, however I highly recommend hosting your own blog. When you host your blog, on your own hosting account, you have complete control and do not run the risk of having your blog shut down. You can have as many blogs, in the niches of your choice, with single hosting account for less than eight bucks a month.

I personally use Blue Voda. Blue Voda is a free downloadable wysiwig (what you see is what you get) web site building software and web hosting service. I’ve been using Blue Voda for some time now and can say without reservation, It is amazingly easy to use. You don’t need any prior experience or know html. Their support is fantastic. Blue Voda provides you with free video tutorials on every aspect of setting up and installing your WordPress Blog or building your website. You can download a free copy here.

Now back to setting up your cash generating blog. The first thing to do is register your domain name and activate your hosting account with Blue Voda. Now go to the video tutorial section of Blue Voda and open the section labeled (How to install WordPress in Blue Voda) and simply follow the directions. This can be done in a few minutes.

You will initially be provided with the default WordPress templates. I suggest you don’t use these. They are too generic and unprofessional. Go to WordPress and find a template that is professional in appearance and is optimized for Google ad sense. WordPress has a ton of templates that you can download for free. Down load the ones you like and then upload them to your Blue Voda account. Again Blue Voda provides clear video instructions on how to upload files to your account. You can now change your theme with just a couple of mouse clicks until you arrive at the one you like best.

Next I suggest you download a few plugins to help monetize and manage your blog. You should at least have a stat plug in to keep records of your traffic, an RSS plug-in for people to subscribe to your blog and an SEO plug-in to help increase your traffic and search engine rating. There are a lot of cool plugins for WordPress. Check them out and install as many as you feel you would like.

After you have made a few posts sign up for a Google ad sense account and then start posting at least three times a week. That’s all there is to it. You now have a cash generating blog. The amount you make is completely up to you and your commitment and efforts. One thing is a given…You will make money from your Google ad sense. It could amount to a few hundred dollars a month for each blog. It is all dependent on how much traffic you generate.
